2010 Alain Verset CornasSyrah more |
4/22/2024 - drfloyd Likes this wine: NRThis has really come together nicely - no formal note but just slammin’ Cornas with 14 years on it - loved it and wish I had more in the cellar… |

2006 Domaine Lafouge Meursault Les Casse-TêtesChardonnay more |
3/30/2024 - drfloyd wrote: NRThis has aged a bit strangely - this bottle had hints of oxidation but generally not bad. But the fruit was quite muted vs. a forward, strong oak note - could have been an off bottle but not particularly enjoyable. |

2009 Domaine Bart Marsannay Les EchezotsPinot Noir more |
3/18/2024 - drfloyd Likes this wine: NRWow - what a great wine. Mature burgundy in a great spot here - lovely nose with soft cherry, light earthiness- beautiful. The candied fruit of 2009 is still there. Impressive structure- persistent on the mid-palate with hints of sweet fruit - with great acidity. So well made and has aged better than many of my more expensive burgundies… |

2010 Podere ai Valloni Boca Vigna CristianaNebbiolo Blend, Nebbiolo more |
3/17/2024 - drfloyd wrote: NRNot bad - the nose is the star - mint, alpine, a bit of tar, etc. - fruit is fading while plenty of acidity- borders on tart - definitely needs some rich food to match. Drink up |

2009 Domaine des Terres Dorées (Jean-Paul Brun) Moulin-à-VentGamay more |
3/9/2024 - drfloyd wrote: NRI had a string of bad bottles but this one was in great shape - pretty, high-toned candied notes but with some tertiary earth notes, medium weight across the palate - finish is a bit short give the lighter acidity in 2009. Decent |

2017 Domaine Laurent Boussey Meursault Vieilles VignesChardonnay more |
3/8/2024 - drfloyd Likes this wine: 94 pointsIn a great place now - I really enjoyed this with grilled salmon steaks. So, so juicy - long, long finish - wood is light and nicely framed - acidity spot on - I’m smitten - excellent |

2005 François Chidaine Vouvray Clos BaudoinChenin Blanc more |
2/19/2024 - drfloyd wrote: NRFrom a magnum - needed a bit of air to unwind. Not many signs of age - nose was a bit muted - white flours, beeswax, honeysuckle - maybe a bit of plastic - very subtle but nice. It was firm on the palate with its 14% alcohol weight - acidity was enough and it had an almost grainy texture - I kept thinking of guava. In a great place and enjoyable - definitely a food wine. |

2/10/2024 - drfloyd Likes this wine: NRImpressive - in great shape and still plenty of fruit - I reckon it could improve for another 3-5 years but in a great place now. Such great QPR - bravo Chambers St. Wines. |

2016 Château Le ReysseMédoc Red Bordeaux Blend more |
2/4/2024 - drfloyd Likes this wine: NRSolid - as usual. And Reysse needs some age - still a bit tight but starting to loosen a bit - I would give my remaining bottles a few years… |

2001 Giuseppe Rinaldi Barolo Brunate Le CosteNebbiolo more |
1/27/2024 - drfloyd Likes this wine: NRFelt like I killed a baby - found this in my cellar - my friend Ago dropped it off years ago. I didn’t do my homework prior to popping the cork - just loved it but felt like this has decades a to go. Beautiful fruit, dense, dense - young with plenty to give in the years ahead. A bit backwards but felt like it has far more to give. Loved it but should have opened in another decade or two…. Built for age - impressive |

2005 Domaine du Gros 'Noré BandolMourvèdre Blend, Mourvèdre more |
1/20/2024 - drfloyd Likes this wine: NRIn great shape - youthful but drinking well with some air. Love the textbook Bandol aromatics - decent weight, great acidity, moderate tannins - very good and perfect with short ribs and polenta |

2014 Cavallotto Langhe NebbioloLanghe DOC more |
1/16/2024 - drfloyd Likes this wine: NRImpressive- after a decade still young and energetic- beautiful nose - reminds me of a Valtellina - some alpine, bordering on mint on the nose - the darker side of Nebbiolo but with a streak of mint. Really shined on day 2 - I should revisit my last bottle in at least a few years - plenty of tannic power. Outstanding QPR |

12/17/2023 - drfloyd Likes this wine: NRJust delicious and in a great place - really enjoyed this. No formal note but had all the hallmarks of a nice Cornas - impressive - bought this for 25 bucks a decade ago… |

2010 Marie et Pierre Bénetière Côte-Rôtie CordelouxSyrah more |
12/17/2023 - drfloyd wrote: NRI recall liking this more earlier - not sure if this was an off bottle. A bit one dimensional esp. compared to the other bottle we had open (Les Vin des Amis - Clape 2012 - which was open and expressive). Had the bottle open for 3-4 hours but didn’t budge. No formal note but it didn’t rock my world… |

11/23/2023 - drfloyd Likes this wine: NRGoing strong after 18 years - some slight oxidation but in a good way - nice balance with zippy acidity. Mid-palate is solid - finish long a juicy given the acidity. Solid and great QPR |

2014 Château Clos du MoulinMédoc Red Bordeaux Blend more |
11/10/2023 - drfloyd Likes this wine: NRNo formal note but is a clear example of how much BS is in the wine world - this wine was just beautiful after nine years - soulful, just delicious and enjoyable to the last drop - all for 20 clams. ticks all the boxes and was a joy to drink with a ribeye - no signs of age but probably won’t get a lot better. A bit of funk, ample fruit and great balance and acidity - a long finish. What a great wine - bravo! |
