10/15/2011 - misfits wrote: 87 pointsThis wine is off-dry. The vintner recommends decanting, and at this point in its life, I would agree. Served cold it is obnoxiously cloying. At room temperature (and decanted for an hour) it balances out and gets more interesting. Tight nose of faint orange blossom. Taste is honey, apples, and a trace of grapefruit and alcohol on the back end. Short finish. Leaves a sticky residue on the lips. Too sweet and insuffficient acid to serve with a meal, but probably pairs acceptably with heavier blue cheeses. Poor QPR. Will revisit in a few years. |

4/17/2009 - misfits wrote: 87 pointsColor of light golden honey. Nose is grapefruit and/or pineapple, but also wet rock-ish. Flavor of grapefruit , solid mid-palate that lasts quite long , faint sweetness/chalkiness on the back palate. Smells like a SB, and the the taste is crisp but not as acidic sharp as I usually get with SB. This is probably best with food, but would need very delicate or mild food to compete, such as Malpeques on the half shell. |
