6/23/2021 - fishmb wrote: 92 pointsDecanted 1hr +. Black fruit, some chocolate hints. Smooth and integrated. Nice finish - great with clam stew with cab broth (not this cab). Drank nicely throughout the rest of the night. Better than the bottle I had 8 months ago, but I think it'll get better for another year or two. If only I had a few more bottles. Agree that I wouldn't pay 90, but I would definitely pay more than I got it for. |

5/12/2021 - fishmb wrote: 91 pointsBright red and blue fruit. Lovely nose - medium finish. Well balanced. Would definitely enjoy another bottle or two. Enjoyed it quite a bit. Ate with salmon cooked on grill: butter/oil/salt/pepper/garlic/rosemary. Also bought via Garagiste mystery. |

5/1/2021 - fishmb wrote: 88 pointsHonestly, I can't tell what it will be down the road, but I was disappointed today. It was fine, but I was hoping for better - I agree with a lot of the notes about bright flavor and tasting tight. Too soon I guess. If you have them, I'd definitely wait, but I honestly wasn't tasting a lot of structure in it either. |

2/19/2021 - fishmb Likes this wine: 89 pointsIf I had another bottle, I'd give it another year or two to round out. I had some with a Provencal cream sauce, seafood noodle dish. It went well with the food, but has a short finish and isn't as pleasant drinking on it's own now that the food is gone. Color is blue-tinged garnet. Nose is cherry and ethanol. |

2/13/2021 - fishmb Does not like this wine: NRMaybe I had a bad bottle, but my experience last week was definitely with the professional reviewers who put it in the 70s rather than 90s. First sip very one dimensional - gave it hours to open up and later that night it was still bleh. Now it's fancy cooking wine. |

12/17/2020 - fishmb wrote: 89 pointsI thought it was a 2016 - oops. That said, I was pleased it was still very enjoyable and feel it will be great in a year or two. The tannins still have some bite that need to mellow, but with the green curry that actually didn't matter - having a glass post-dinner, I'm noticing them more. I'm sure I'd give this 90-91 in another year. |

12/16/2020 - fishmb wrote: 91 pointsSo smooth - I wouldn't wait longer. Lots well-balanced sweet fig flavors, a bit of date. Big wine at 15%, but the body is balanced by the rich fruit flavor. Medium finish. Very enjoyable. |

12/8/2020 - fishmb Likes this wine: 89 pointsBright berry flavor, cassis, stewed plum, a bit sweet in the middle. Relatively brief finish, but with a hint of pepper. Decanted for an hour, but it still improved throughout the night. Pleasant mid-week wine - will enjoy drinking the rest of the bottle soon. |

12/4/2020 - fishmb wrote: 91 pointsNice French Syrah - I typically prefer the French style to the big body in-your-face Syrahs that Washington State has made (my sister brought one of those for comparison that received two 95 pt ratings), and this one was a good value for a more nuanced expression of the grape near Cote Rotie. A touch of flower and spice, nice fruit. Great balance. |

12/4/2020 - fishmb wrote: 90 pointsLiving in Portland, I drink lots of Oregon pinot from the Willamette valley, and this one from the Columbia Gorge near Hood River did a great job at expressing a different terroir. Quite a bit of structure. Pinot usually decants pretty quickly, but this one took much longer. Better on the second day. Will wait at least another year for second bottle. Very different from the 2016s in the rest of Oregon, similar to some of the 2011/2013 vintages, which took more time than some of the knockout vintages like 2012 and 2015 to express some nice flavors. |

12/4/2020 - fishmb Likes this wine: 88 pointsNice wine for $12 - had with a manila clam stew in mushroom/miso broth shiitake mushrooms, garlic, green onions, tofu, and shallots. Good value wine for the food. Nice lemon flavor, good complement with the clams. |
