Wine has some hints of TCA you could almost be forgiven for mistaking as ageing aroma's - forest floor, stinky cheese. However, you notice it overpowering the otherwise lovely ripe white fruit. Still a delicious glass of wine. Just not entirely right.

Nothing of the character (salinity, liquorice, citrus, crushed rock, freshness) of a great Vermentino di Gallura. Nondescript acidity and alcohol. Really disappointed.

Not sure what to make of this. Largely carbonic Rioja, 65% Tempranillo and 35% Garnacha. It's very, very carbonic. It's Rioja Beaujolais Nouveau. A little more power, a little more class, but not a lot more than that. Elegance, sure, but mainly of the artificial sweets variety. Some tannin, but little structure.

Not entirely sure this works for me.

Additional tasting note to previous one. Fourth bottle out of six. Year since last bottle.

Juicy. Really delicious. Not austere or flat, like 2014 can be. Truly juicy, rich, great length and acidity, classic Bordeaux yet with real warmth. Will develop, but drinking lovely.

Very meaty, even smoked bacon nose. Thick and hints of licorice too. Some fruit but nothing too primary - blackcurrant and dried prunes.
On the palate it is drying, rich, with the right touch of acidity and again herbal notes which have an astringent effect. Nice notes of oak too, cedery finish. This isn't a young wine yet to me it's not remotely softened. Smashingly drinkable .

Extraordinary. Such concentration and length. Herbal nose, almost smokey and medicinal, with some stone fruits and honey. Not much in the way of oaky notes. Full body with beautiful saline moments. Great acidity, length, finish is long. Classic Chardonnay. Takes most white burgundies to the cleaners.

Superb wine for the cooked 2003 vintage. Lovely nose of cedar, graphite and cassis. It's warm and inviting. Still very high in tannins, but soft, not astringent, hints of leather and mature barnyard. You're not getting a wine that suggests a hot year - if anything it's quite classic. Can probably do another decade but it's in a good spot.

Perfect. Depending on the bottle, it can be just the tiniest bit thin. But otherwise, from yuzu and dried fruits, through chocolate and nuts, through various salts and beautiful acidity, onto an endless finish, it's perfect

I liked this a lot. Beautiful nose, peach, apricot, some salty licorice. But: far too sweet. It's Spätlese at a minimum. This isn't Kabinett. It's beautifully constructed and balanced, but far from racy.

Weird and wonderful wine. Nose almost like a beautiful white Burgundy, toasted wood and some brioche, unsmoked tobacco. No real red fruits, very tertiary, forest floor, mushroom and something rancio. May be some bottle variation. On the palate, distinctly Cote de Nuits. No great length, again very toasty and foresty. Don't know about 2013 in general but doubt this wine should taste this old and tertiary. Nonetheless, tasty and interesting.

Decent enough but showing the average vintage. Nice Riesling nose but simple. Full flavour and quite concentrated and round, but with alcohol weight and heat, not filigree or flinty. No great length. Only an ortswein from an average vintage, but for a Breuer still disappointed.

Needs some time to open up, gritty and muted start, but when it does, lovely cedar and dark fruit nose, classy, lengthy acidity, fine tannins, nothing too special, doesn't transcend its vintage but very tasty and good nonetheless. Don't think I'd keep this any longer.

Very fruity nose, red fruits, especially cherries, raspberries and rhurbarb. Fresh fruit, hints of preserves. Some very nice rubber too, hints of shoe. Typical Gamay.
On the palate fresh and a tad drying. Fruit doesn't translate to sweetness. Some white pepper. A pretty wine.

Very pretty and concentrated Silvaner. Oozes minerality, the distinctive Roter Hang minerality that all Gunderlochs have but is very hard to describe. Flint and gunsmoke. Lovely yellow fruits. Something that suggests it was matured partially on lees - almost hints of butteriness. Not rapier like a Riesling, but somehow has the same minerality and freshness. I like.

Not quite the balance I expected. Nicely integrated and quite present wood. Less fresh red fruits, slightly more on preserves. Not all that high in acidity. Some barnyard and forest floor. I like it, just expected more acidity. Delicious, but not classic.

Quick tasting note. All tertiary, really quite lovely tannins, some nice wood and age on the nose, it's a pretty wine and remarkably well developed for this level. Totally not finished!

I don't think I've ever had a wine as nondescript as this. It's clearly high quality. Nose is lovely, graphite, ceder and red fruit, but nothing too pronounced. Mouth is very nice, but I have no clue what exactly I'm tasting. It's delicious, but not too specific. I'd expect more, maybe this bottle, maybe a dumb phase.

Really fascinating wine, and serious QPR.
This wine is almost all nose. A really rich, vibrant, layered nose of bramble and other dark fruits, smoked meats, black olive and grilled bell pepper, and unmistakable bacon fat. Provencal herbs. Syrah coming to the fore, Grenache provides a richness.
On the palate, not quite as enticing. 2018 still youngish, some purple fruits, some malo, not fully integrated. Again some lovely fruit, nondescript but nice, black pepper and something meaty. Just not as forward and developed as that excellent nose.

Highly recommend this!

Delicious. Golden colour, between straw and honey. Wonderful nose of gooseberry, saline, very fine oak, grapefruit, some bell pepper. Really nice, and unusual. Especially the toastiness of the oak is interesting. On the palate it's the right balance between acidity and length and fullness and mouthfeel. Classy. Some of the gooseberry and salinity remains. Other than that, it's none too specific. Hints of clove. It's long. It has good concentration. One of those wines that tastes as it smells.
Not sure this will age, but I'll enjoy the remaining four bottles over the next two to three years.

Excellent QPR Spätburgunder. Spicy, smokey, clearly from old slate vines. Good acidity, 2018 is an excellent vintage. Nice fruit but not too primary or fruity. Complex. Hints of rubber and forest floor.

Wow. I don't drink enough aged Bordeaux (I'm 30), but this is stunning even in comparison with the other 2003s I've tried. A wonderful nose of graphite, ripe and roasted green vegetables (especially peppers), dark, enticing fruit, licorice, provencal herbs and just something preserved, jammy. On the palate it has fine tannins, a very nice warm feeling, hints of cedar and again nondescript but dark red fruits, good length and a fresh, almost minty finish. Verges almost on very good Brunello, not surprising given the vintage. Very good now, doubt this develops into something better, a little tertiary but given more time it will lose what freshness it has, so drink now I guess?

Second night: more barnyardy, more animal, more raisiny - more tertiary, as expected.

Gorgeous, golden colour of Riesling with hints of age. Interesting nose, very Riesling, very Mosel, but rich and honeyed, spices, hints of cassis, but clearly dry. Not saline but definitely flinty.
On the palate loses a few points for some hints of sulphur, which takes the shape of melon and paybe some unripe pear, not uncommon in Rieslings like these but you'd want it to be slightly less pronounced. Dry, very full, you'd say this was Riesling but not filligree or blade-sharp. Concentrated at the risk of losing some of the nervousness. Very nice, just has to be your thing.
