Earthy, moderately & pleasantly tannic, drinking wonderfully. It was Dad's bottle, medium to slightly poorly stored, which for me can = some level of advanced aging). Echoing elements of other commenters, yes to the horse/barnyard/funk/dirt, as well as the red fruit/chocolate/coffee palate, definitely in lovely balance overall. This is wine that if you catch in the right spot of its maturity cycle, it will pay handsome rewards on the tariff - otherwise long-decant and enjoy presently.
