E&R's 5th Annual Beaujolais Weekend; 11/15/2014-11/16/2014 (E&R Wine Shop, Portland OR): Soft and green notes here too, with some layers of red berries. Soft fruit on the palate with light tannins. Slight bitterness. Tart tannins. Green tannins on the finish and that's the primary note lingering. Quite tight, but it is enjoyable.

Bright fruit on the nose. Palate is fresh, fruity, fairly simple, but clean and thus an "honest" bottle. Enjoyable.

This is very solid and a definite buy again. We sampled the Trichard Beaujolais-Village just prior to this. The Saint-Amour had denser fruit, greater complexity and overall, a really delicious profile that was held up well by nice acidity. Cranberry, raspberry and nice red fruits. Good wine.

Talk about a flexible red - it did well with a big pork chop and then the next day with peanut butter stuffed pretzels...

Nice denser and more concentrated Cru Beaujolais. We had never had a Saint-Amour before. Cranberry, raspberry and a lot of red fruit on the nose. Bursting with fresh fruit and some secondary darker nuances on the palate. Drying dusty tannins. Solid finish. Good wine. Not overly complex but really enjoyable. B.

Intense violet. In the nose intense youthful aromas of cassis, berries, licorish. In the mouth intense fruit, dry, medium acidity and short finish

This wine is drinking very well right now. It is more or less a straight shot, but does its thing very well. Bright fruit nose. Palate incorporates some oak and vanilla which merges very well with well defined cherry and raspberry leading to a nice vanilla cherry note. Nice complexity here for a Beaujolais.

This performed very well. Some density to it. This closes out our 2006 stock. Dark color. Dark fruity nose with some floral aromas mixed with tea and even a little bread dough. Nice development on the mid-palate, with a nice blend of sweet and spice. Plum, blackberry and jammy fruits. The acidity toward the back half was a bit uncomfortable. Sorry to see the 2006s go after this bottle showed so well.

A solid example of fruity-style Beaujolais, showing much better than when last tasted a couple of months ago. It’s shed its earlier baby fat and is starting to lean-out and take on more herbal interest in its bright, raspberry driven flavor profile. Jean-François has taken over charge of the estate from his father Georges. They're apparently still working through their batch of old labels, so you may see this version of this wine labeled with Georges' name as well as with that of Jean-François.

This is consistently a very nice Beuajolais. Brighter red color and a nice cherry note on the front. Bright palate with sour cherry and spice. It is light and easy, with some back end tannins.

Tasted with Indian food.

NOSE: Deep nose with some interesting fruit complexity. Dark fruits, rich and deep aromas. A little tea, a little rose petals, a little wood/forest floor, but mostly interesting and intense fruit.
PALATE: Light body, but not as light or candylike as the Roux Pere et Fils Beaujolais-Village. This was much more real. Good fruit on the midpalate. Slightly sweet, but with very gripping acidity that paired excellently with the Indian food. Much more acidic than Roux Pere. Very smooth - low alcohol? (would make sense: carbonic maceration). The finish was the only weak part, with a little unpleasant bitterness mixed with long, lingering acidity. Not tannic. CONCLUSION: paired well with Indian food. The best acidity-driven flavor profile I've seen in a Red Wine. $10/half.

This is a delightful Beaujolais style red. Fruity and smooth with a nice mouth feel and overall enjoyable experience. We had this with some goat cheese and hard cheeses as an appetizer and it got rave reviews from the room. We will definitely buy again.

beautiful wine color wise. perfectly clear ruby. excellent stuff - aromatic with fresh raspberries and strawberries, also some herbs. vibrant palate with surprising depth, great slightly grainy texture. at almost $20, not sure if it's the best value in Beaujolais, but it sure is good.

Not as appealing as my first bottle. Still vibrant and nice, but I originally rated this 90. It was tasted quite cold, this could be why. Nose didn't have the big grapey, gamay aromatics.

Purple in color. Total gamay nose, jumping from glass - grapey, gravel, floral. Big & full of flavor, but not as fruity as 05 BV. Would buy more and hang on to for a couple more years. The BV seems to drink well now, this needs time. Med body, red & black berries, tart plum, lots of acidity.
