8/29/2022 - Sonoffalstaff Likes this wine: 90 pointsThe original Ponty wine. Lovely Merlot, evolves more quickly the the Grand Renouil. Soft inviting nose, lovely red fruit flavours with hints of plum, superb balance. Shorter on the finish than the above GR. Serious wine for the price point. |

11/22/2020 - Sonoffalstaff Likes this wine: 92 pointsWent toe to toe with Chateau Canon 2000. Lovely deep garnet colour leads to classic merlot nose. Long and complex taste with a hint of meaty finish |

5/24/2020 - Sonoffalstaff Likes this wine: 92 pointsWarning decant this for at least 3 hours! Like so many 95's this initially remained a tightly wound introverted wine that lacked attractiveness. However, as the evening progressed it unleashed itself into a classic claret ( note not a Cab Sauv Parker high scorer). In the glass lots of brick edging now appears making it aged Barolo like in colour. Nose initially closed, then opens up after 2-3 hours to show a more Medoc style with cedar etc. Given time and food the wine the releases the complexity that is hidden within. All areas balanced harmoniously from attach to lingering after taste. It just tastes of wine, not fruit salad! |

5/24/2020 - Sonoffalstaff Likes this wine: 91 pointsTried against the 1995. Michel Ponty's wines always surprise with their longevity and complexity. Classic claret colour. Nose is full and fruity with some hints of cedar and touch of broken stick green. Good length and complexity, with a balance and class that belies its price point. Overall a sense that it is still coming into its best phase and the next five years will see if it can match the great 1990! |

1/10/2016 - hdn Likes this wine: 92 pointsLaatste fles. Jammer! Ondanks zijn 10 jaar nog weinig veroudering merkbaar. Misschien iets in de kleur, maar voor de rest is dit een warme, volle, donkere wijn. mooi evenwichtig en nog vol kracht. |

3/12/2013 - LeGaulois Likes this wine: 88 pointsNice and easy to drink Bordeaux. With 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon it is certainly on the medium body side. Well balanced with some fruit forward and a little finish. Not complex but enjoyable for the price. I have already tasted the 2008 and I was expecting the 09 to be better but it's not the case. Should age few years. |
