12/21/2023 - Wunner Likes this wine: 90 pointsSurprised to discover this is not bad. Apparently wines from Area B have a great reputation. This is not one of them. Nevertheless, having traversed this great wall, fought off barbarians and experienced every one of the five stars offered by this wine, we are very satisfied. Jim and I quaffed the contents of an entire bottle over two evenings and experienced no sickness whatsoever. I can highly recommend partaking in this wine, whether from the highly reputed Area B (the Chinese equivalent of Paulliac, I understand) or not. Jim and I both encourage you to do the same. |

6/9/2023 - ericindc Likes this wine: 88 pointsreally interesting wine. First Chinese wine with 20+yrs of age. At first, the nose was really vinegary and funky. This blew off and the nose was really similar to a very herbal Loire cab franc. This got better over a couple hours. The fruit is light, but has some light red/black fruits with alot of savory notes, strong herbal notes, earthy notes, with a touch of bitterness. Medium/light body, good acidity and very low tannins. Very classically left bank in a lighter vintage, I guess this is partially due to the 11.5% alcohol. |

3/25/2023 - Elliot Vale Likes this wine: 90 pointsGood nose of blackcurrant, some black olive and orange skin. Well balanced, fresh, good acidity for a 13.8% wine. Plenty of life left in it, 3-5 years? Tasted like an Aussie Shiraz but without any eucalyptus or menthol markers. |

2/6/2020 - HU Does not like this wine: 50 pointsLife is too short to drink this wine. Acidic, little flavor, not enjoyable. It is wine, alright. But do yourself a favor and open another bottle. I poured mine out ( after giving it a chance to improve for a day: it did not). |

6/15/2014 - saturnaisland wrote: 88 pointsHad this with dinner in Shanghai. Bordeaux-like with some new world influence. I would have guessed some Merlot in the blend, although I am not sure if this is so. Rounded tannins. Smooth and mellow; well integrated; some complexity. There is still good aged cabernet fruit with possibly a very slight hint of stewed plum. Nice wine. |

8/28/2012 - danp wrote: 70 pointsNose is quite peculiar - some cherry, some clove, but it's pretty nondescript. The palate is very distinctive though but not particularly pleasant - hints of blackcurrant, burnet, elder blossom, speedwell, peppermint, sage, marshmallow, thyme, lady’s mantle, horehound, plantain, cowslip, yarrow and mallow. Ok, so that's the ingredient list from Ricola blackcurrant cough drops ... but that's what it tasted like. Thin, green, herby, mercifully short bitter finish. |

4/4/2012 - Oh Dae-su wrote: 72 pointsThe colour was startling bright yellow. Close to transparent or white! Its nose appeared to be very watery. Besides that I smelled scents like weak lemon, hints of green pepper, fresh and crisp toothpaste, rehymanating detergents and fresh cut twigs. In summary: A rather weak impression with a lot of hygienically attributes. I am not sure, if “white wine dry” is a suitable description for this one. For me it appeared to be pretty close to off-dry. I somehow tasted like a white blend made of Muller-Thurgau and thin and watery Pinot Blanc. I got broad, not really sophisticated, flavours petroleum, hints of lemon, grapefruit, slurry and some greenish stuff. The taste was better than the rest. I was very thankful for the substantially diminished detergent flavours, which were very present in my nose. |

There were a lot of wrong guesses as to where this wine was from before it was finally revealed as a Chinese wine. Much better than I would have guessed and aging quite nicely. No rush on this. Good. |
