2017 Bodegas San Alejandro Garnacha Calatayud Las Rocas Viñas Viejasmore |
4/14/2024 - fresso Likes this wine: 91 pointsPop n pour. 4th bottle of 6. Very juicy, fresh, and well balanced. Ripe cherry, light tannins, medium body and long finish. Very nice wine with or without food. Great bottle for those nights when you're not really sure what you're in the mood for (like tonight!). |

2/20/2024 - vcerf Likes this wine: 85 pointsThis is a 22 year old Garnacha, sampling immediately on opening, there is still good fruit. Palate is slightly acidic but guess it will be softer on the palate with more breathing time. Opened with Vinturi filtering so some effort to aerate. Good color, no bricking. Nose is faint but pleasant. Still a good table wine. Nothing like Parker's outburst but, hey, it's holding up pretty well for its age. |

6/26/2018 - Mossrose wrote: 91 pointsBegan with a corrupted color - brown tint, medium ruby, paler band around edge. And the wine lacked the chief fruit flavor for Grenache - red raspberry. But 4 days later the color became opaque and red raspberry showed up too, along with a more rounded, less acidic taste. Overall, the recovered wine has aged well into one of the best $10 Grenache wines I have had, with bright acidity, tasty fruit, and a good undertow of structuring acidity and tannin. |

3/7/2017 - Mossrose wrote: 94 pointsThis 13 year old Grenache is stunningly good straight out of the just opened bottle. An inch pour started out as just dark red but 2 minutes later darkened to opaque black. Strong nose filling aromas of fully ripe blackberries. Exceedingly smooth, caressing, juicy, and fruity in the mouth, adding plum and cherry. Acidity and tannin have receded into the background but remain enough to keep the wine refreshing, lively, and never flabby. No alcoholic heat or fumes are detectable. Overall, close to as good as aged Grenache gets from anywhere. |

6/24/2023 - P.Graff Does not like this wine: 80 pointsPurple-ish red. More tobacco ( sigarette butt ) than fruit on the nose, some cherry. Palate: cherry, maybe some blackberry, and alcohol. Acidic and dry, seems unbalanced. Not my cup of proverbial chai latte, but of course we finished the bottle with some snacks and two episodes of tv drama. (I won the bottle, wont buy it myself) |

5/2/2023 - Mootsie Likes this wine: 93 pointsVery dark, crushed berry and iron nose. Very balanced - disguising the 15% alcohol. No heat at all. Ripe, but not sweet currant, pepper, licorice with a touch of mineral on the finish. All five areas in balance: alcohol, fruit, sugar, tannins and acidity. Well made. Enjoy. |
