3/30/2024 - sfwinelover1 Likes this wine: 94 pointsOne off from the big box about 5 years ago ($35). On the nose and palate, effusive notes of boysenberries, huckleberries, blueberries, sweet blackberries, figs, damsons, black currants and a light raspberry note, anise, lavender, forest floor, wet earth, rocky minerality, milk chocolate, tobacco, forest floor and lighter typical CdP notes of saline, funk, sous bois and smoked meats. Deep purple, full bodied, thick legs. Silky smooth medium tannins, light acidity, no heat. VG+ complexity and persistence, VG intensity. Opened for an hour and half without trying before the first pour, this was singing off the pour and remained constant during the hour+ we drank it. It shined on its own, and unsurprisingly even with fully integrated and generally light structure, with Steve’s leg of lamb. My first time with this producer, although I have another vintage and another bottling in my collection, this is an outstanding base CdP, with especially vibrant fruit and sweet spice. While more structure could have elevated this a further notch or two, that’s a pretty tall order at this price point, and this handily exceeded expectations and reminded me why I’m so rarely disappointed by CdPs. I suspect that this is drinking at peak, and while this was my only bottle, if I’m able to gets hands on another for around this price point, which I’d gladly do, I’d be looking to drink it in the next few years. 94+ |

I guessed a northern Rhone here. This bottle was in a nice spot. |

3/23/2024 - Zach con Queso Likes this wine: 98 pointsCola, mint, black cherry on the nose. Super fragrant, amazing bouquet. Opulent and indulgent on the palate. Jeb's review is spot on. One of my favorite CDPs ever. If you were nonplussed, please send me whatever you may have left. |

3/22/2024 - beatles wrote: 91 pointsVery genuine Rhône feel, quite rustic, surprisingly, there is solid fruit behind, but it's dark fruit, and this must absolutely be served a bit chilled to preserve freshness, which is an issue here. Otherwise very local, garrigue galore. Will keep 5+ years no prob. |

Decanted for about an hour, red berry perfume with slight alcohol astringency, fruit primarily of raspberries, powdery tannins, high abv but not overpowering as acidity and fruit held it in check. |

2/27/2024 - Texas Corkscrew Likes this wine: 93 pointsThis wine went prefect with our lobster thermidor. Compared it alongside a Caymus Mer Soliel Chardonnay and it paired much better with the sauce. The wine is fresh, lots of fruit, soft tannins, medium-bodied. |

2/14/2024 - Zweder Likes this wine: 92 pointsMonthly Tasting Group HWS: Chateauneuf du Pape vs Gigondas (By me): Beautiful bouquet with blackberries, blueberries, licorice, garrigue and barnyard impressions. On the palate juicy fruits, laurel, beautiful acidity and still slightly sticky tannin. The wine is in its drinking stage with enough power for a few more years of cellaring. |

1/30/2024 - Jeff Leve wrote: 94 pointsQuite floral in nature, the wine is spicy, and fresh, with layers of ripe, dark cherries, kirsch, and black raspberries with an herbal, and olive note on the backend of the finish. The wine was made blending about 65% Grenache, and 25% Syrah with 5% Mourvedre. Drink from 2024-2034. |

1/30/2024 - Jeff Leve wrote: 93 pointsOn the nose, it is the array of flowers in its bouquet that catches your attention. From there you find a medium-bodied, silky, fresh, elegant, cherry filled wine with kirsch, strawberry, and peppery spice that livens up the finish in the backend. The wine is produced from 100% old vine Grenache vines located not far from Chateau Rayas. Drink from 2024 - 2033 |

1/30/2024 - Jeff Leve wrote: 94 pointsStrawberries, flowers, bouquet garni and kirsch open the aromatic profile. On the palate, the wine is soft, polished, fresh and fruity with a slight, citrus accent to the sweetness in the strawberries, and red cherries that center the elegantly-textured wine from start to finish. The wine is made from 100% old vine, Grenache planted in sandy soils not too far from Chateau Rayas. Drink from 2024-2033. |

1/7/2024 - Andy2014 Likes this wine: 93 pointsPale ruby. Pronounced aromas of red plum, strawberry, strawberry jam, vanilla, clove, dried fruits, leather, almonds, coffee. Med+ acidity and tannins. High alcohol (15.5%) and med+ body. Long finish. Outstanding wine. Could be kept longer but risk of losing some of the primary fruit charactertistics? |
