Rich, velvety, and juicy in the mouth with delicious fruit, well structured by intertwined acidity and tannin. As impressively enjoyable as it is now, will get even better through another decade of aging as it becomes seamless, caressing, and more complex. A fine illustration of why Montalcino is rightly world famous for its Sangiovese. |

11/24/2023 - tadams66 Likes this wine: 93 pointsThis is nicely evolved but I don’t think it will change any more. It is in a wonderful place and even better on the second day. Lovely lush mouth feel with dark fruit and a little leather. Wish I had more. I really love the 2010 brunellos and this does not disappoint. |

10/1/2023 - RGCM Gananda Likes this wine: 92 pointsPrior bottle was almost 2 years to-the-day and this wine has evolved along the lines I'd hoped. Plum, black cherry, floral and spice notes on the nose with just a touch of black raspberry. Between medium and full bodied with black cherry upfront showing good expression and a nice touch of brightness as well. Mid-body adds darker black cherry as well as plum. There good density as well as good depth through the middle. Tart black cherry, acidity and tannins as well as spices, earth and mineral notes through the finish. Did take some time to open up and while it showed well throughout, it didn't show it's best until 3+ hours open when the balance and integration both took a step forward. Should continue to evolve along these lines as has a good amount of upside, so I'll wait until at least Q4 2024 for my next bottle. |

7/14/2022 - sfwinelover1 Likes this wine: NRSometime after my last TN (6/20), I picked up an additional bottle of this at the same price, then lost track of it thinking my wife may have drank it, before it turned back up a few months ago. I write now to weigh in varying experiences from my prior TNs and differences among the last several other TNs. This wine has advanced far faster than I’d have guessed, such that it was very presentable on the pour, and with 2 hours of air (I’d have checked at the hour mark in light of the initial taste, and I think 30-60 minutes would be ideal), while perfectly balanced and even integrated, was a bit less vigorous. Same general thoughts on the notes in this wine as my prior TNs, but the acidity and tannins, far from being bold, are now medium-, with the wine’s persistence and intensity dialed down several notches. Unlike the recently reviewed ‘06 Clos des Papes, there’s still enough structure here for it to star with a spicy red sauce pasta, but at this point, it’s just as good as a standalone. I’d buy again at this price, but leaving aside the issue of whether there may have been a specific bottle issue (it was already 10 years post vintage when I bought it from this online discounter, which isn’t 100% reliable on older bottles), I’d drink it not too long after it came off the truck (I’ve reduced my drinking window by 6 years). Maybe a half point lower on night #2. If scoring, I’m thinking my last score of 93-94+ is probably closer to the mark. But certainly nice to be back on the BdM train after a 3.5 month absence. |

6/26/2022 - Grape_ape wrote: NRMy second bottle, and the 1st was 5 1/2 years ago. Back then I thought it was big and modern, and not a ton of BdM typicity. I think it has started to gain some more Tuscan character, with the sour cherry and very subtle earth tones, but at the same time I wouldn't necessarily say it has improved. Its a bit out of balance, with the alcohol showing. In fact, it probably drank a little better without food as a result, or perhaps being open longer helped. I have one left, and am debating whether to drink up, or may just let it go 3-5 more years. |

6/5/2022 - Rich S wrote: 89 pointsDecanted for sediment. Medium garnet color. Nose starting to take on more of a cooked/baked fruit note to go along with some cedar and spice. Similar flavors on the palate with ripe plum and black cherry fruit but a slight raisin note on the finish. Alcohol sticking out just a touch on the finish as well. I think the abv on the bottle said 15% and it is showing as the wine ages. This was fresher and in a better spot a few years ago. I would drink up. |

It’s in a great spot of early drinking. Love it. As I sip this wine, it just gets better and better. The tannins and acids subside and the fruit really shine and there is a sweet top not that has emerged. |

11/25/2021 - repoper wrote: 91 pointsSlowoxed for 6 hours then into a decanter for 2 more. Still black as night with a great fruit filled nose of blackberries, cherries, a bit of spices, barnyard and hay. Still stiff in the mouth as this clearly needs more time. As it sits in the glass it picks up notes of dark chocolate and plumbs. Loads of tannins and acid that are present which need to integrate further. Clearly still young and has room for significant additional development. I’ll hold my remaining bottles for 3-5 years. I’ve recently tried a few of the ‘10 Brunellos and I experienced that in the last several months they all have firmed up in the bottle. IMHO they need more time. I think that they are in an awkward stage for this vintage? I’m going to let the 2010’s sit fir a few more years before popping any more corks. With more time this wine will get much better and my rating of today will look low. |
