This was a great encounter - a little bit of Luxardo cherries and tertiary stuff like tea and leather. And reverse engineered, I think this would probably have had some serious tannins young, but now just offers an elegant resolved hint of that. In a perfect spot for drinking, if you ask me. |

5/20/2023 - Deux Chevaux wrote: NRDeep and dark. Like the 2014 we had years ago, this showed interesting suggestions of sage and caramel — with a pleasant background astringency. Decent acid backbone. But overall, we found this a bit too thick / viscous. |

9/10/2021 - Mootsie Likes this wine: NRI think the bottle we had about a year ago was better. This one has higher acidity and those dark fruits and licorice notes we love so well seem to be a bit muted. Maybe these are starting to go the other way. I’ll never know, this was my last one. |

I did for about 6 months, but tonight decided to pop it. Initially, it almost has a Riesling-esque vibe with a very pale yellow leaning towards green color in glass. On the nose I get a hint of Muscadine - and for anyone who's had wine made from the swamp grape, you will instantly recognize those rubber hose notes. But there's also some bread or yeast notes there that are really enticing. |

3/19/2021 - mkribar wrote: NRSurprisingly light color on the nose. Strong classic aglianico nose when we first opened it: tar, roses, etc. But it blends more with a tawny/red fruited/oxidized character after being open for about an hour. Dried cherries and rosehip. On the palate, medium + tannin, medium+ acid. More classic aglianico on the palate with the rose/tar centered. |

9/18/2020 - bavaur wrote: 90 pointsRich spicy notes on the nose, and that sweetness is very apparent from first smell. Very full bodied, like a slightly over-mature Cab, with leather and blueberry. Deliberately picked this to match with a very rich, slightly spicy eggplant/Parmesan dish and it worked really well. My first WoT and looking forward to trying some of the more restrained Aglianico vintages. |

7/25/2020 - S-F wrote: 92 pointsThis is a soft rendering of PN. Like a warm blanket on a chilly day that envelops you. The fruit is subdued and tertiary, tannins medium with a softer finish. Despite 14+% alcohol, it feels weightless. A little subdued, on the softer side, but very elegant. |

6/27/2020 - merryberry Likes this wine: 89 pointsTranslucent garnet-tinged magenta. Raspberry, earth, and cola nose. Medium to full bodied, dirty cranberries, black cherries, white pepper, still unresolved tannins, smoke, and a sharp cherry-laced finish. It's young; I should have decanted. Solid for the price. |

5/22/2019 - OaktownRush Likes this wine: NRCherry, a little earth, black tea, and maybe a touch of Indian spice. Medium+ acidity. This wine took some time to open up and the longer it stayed open the more I got from it. Felt like this was developing into something more compelling than when I first opened it. |

5/19/2019 - ohne_musik wrote: 88 pointsIntensely aromatic nose, with lemon, honeysuckle and crushed rocks. Rich texture in the mouth, and the flavor profile is more on the side of ripe pear, Fuji apple, and a bit of pleasant green pea. Fairly heavy extraction and I get a bit of bitterness coming through as well. You definitely feel the 14.1% alcohol burn, and to me, this lacks the freshness of a good Fiano di Avellino. 86 |
