9/16/2022 - Marcellus77 Likes this wine: 93 pointsWow! This is my third bottle from this wonderful vintage that have been stored under controlled temperature (12c) for 15 years and what a star it has become. So glad I have been patient with this vintage that is really beginning to shine now. Still so full of fruitiness and finesse with a long finish. Drink or hold ... 93++ |

2004 Domaine Rion Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les CharmesPinot Noir more |
4/8/2017 - Marcellus77 Likes this wine: 91 pointsTo all who condemned the 04 Rion Les Charmes sorry to say this wine has actually opened up and left behind all the green notes, and is actually in a beautifull spot right now. Archtypical Chambolle on the nose, cool palate, coating mouthfeel and sublime lenght. Tasted with oven roasted chicken and celery root pure. Thumbs up and gives even higher expectations for both 05 and 06 which all have a long life ahead. |

Suspect and fear remaining 4 btls will flaw too, but still have a hope I have been just unlucky. Have enjoyed this wine immencly over the past year and recently had a 96 from magnum which was outstanding. |

4/17/2011 - Marcellus77 wrote: 91 pointsIt finally seems to have come together offering a complex nose dominated by dark fruit and pain grille. A delicious mouthfeel and acceptable lenght with dusty tannins that match any tomato based disch superbly. Drink or hold, storing has really paid off here. |

12/17/2010 - Marcellus77 wrote: 90 pointsThis wine is more about finesse than power. It has surely put on some weight since my last bottle last year and in fact showed much better than I hoped for. Not there for the long haul, but not at all jammy as much else 03 I have tasted. |

1/3/2010 - Marcellus77 wrote: 85 pointsNot sure if it is just me who doesnt understand this wine or? Served with scallops and aspargus at 12-13C. Nothing on the nose, flat and lifeless without any inspiration or nerve. Some nutty notes on the mid palate, but short and totally a bummer in my opinion. |

12/11/2009 - Marcellus77 wrote: 91 pointsOpens up with inviting nose of black currants and creme de cassis. In the mouth still an infantile with fruitconsentration, good acidity and gripping tannins towards the end that lingers. I admire the wines from Domaine De Chevalier very much and was very pleased to find that this wine captures much of the character, minerality and complexity I seek from Pessac Leognan especially in a blessing vintage like 2005. A wine to stockpile and to enjoy over the next 10-15 years. |

10/24/2009 - Marcellus77 wrote: 93 pointsDecanted and let to breathe for 2 hours. Pure, consentrated, layered and completely unresistable with a nose of black currants, toasted oak, pencil shavings and floral elements. In the mouth so smooth, big and espressive yet so balanced and finely grained with a lasting finish that just goes on. Eventhough it drinks wonderfully good now this wine will surely develop even more complexity and weight with some more cellaring. |

10/17/2009 - Marcellus77 wrote: 90 pointsDark red in colour with no signs of diminishing rim. In the mouth this wine bursts of red cherries, lots of red cherries nicely intervened in oak and crisp acidity.Medium body with great character and much more elegant than I would have anticipated. Surprising youthfull and lively with enough acid and fruit to carry it many years ahead. Good lenght with rather aggressive tannins and a mouthdrying finish. I give it another 5 years before I crack another bottle; by then it might have matured and developed more depth and complexity which I feel is missing at the moment in order to really call it an interesting wine. |
