2/14/2012 - Evans Wine Cellar Likes this wine: 91 pointsDecanted for 60 to 75 minutes before tasting. The wine although 25 yeas old held together very well. Very few tannins left so I would say it has little life left in the bottle but was an excellent wine to enjoy with Valentines day dinner. My wife and I both give it a 91 and wish we had a few more bottles to enjoy through out the year. |

1/24/2012 - Evans Wine Cellar Likes this wine: 87 pointsAn extremely fruit forward wine on the nose and the pallet. A very smooth texture with a relatively strong tannic finish. This was a pop and pour dinner so the wine did not have any time to breath. |

1/1/2012 - Evans Wine Cellar Likes this wine: 88 pointsGreat wine! I tried the wine straight out of the bottle and it was sweet and lingered on my palate for a moment. Then I aerated the wine through a Viniture and it changed the taste quite a bit. It become less sweet and smooth with subtle favors. |

12/29/2011 - Evans Wine Cellar Likes this wine: 86 pointsI opened the wine and used a Vinturi to aerate it about 15 minutes later. The wine was better with time. In fact the wine was the best the following day. Nice straight forward Cab. |

12/26/2011 - Evans Wine Cellar Likes this wine: 88 pointsDecanted wine for about 45 minutes. Drank very well and the tannins were not overbearing. The nose seems to be relatively hot but we can pull out a lot of cherries. As time went on the wine seemed to drop off at a rapid rate. My recommendation is to taste it right after opening and if it is not to hot to drink it as soon as you pop the cork. |

11/16/2009 - Evans Wine Cellar wrote: 86 pointsThe nose was very strong of alcohol right after decanting. After letting it decant for about one hour the nose started to open up and there were hints of dark fruit and vanilla with a very slight hint of coffee beans. The palate was full of fruit but was disappointing on the finish. I also noticed a bit of sweetness which was a little off putting. All the flavors seemed very muddled but this was the same for the other three bottles I have had from before. |

11/3/2009 - Evans Wine Cellar wrote: 91 pointsBottle was decanted for 1 hour before tasting. The nose was light with dark fruit and oak. The palate was very balanced with very little tannins. After tasting a glass thirty minutes by itself we moved onto enjoying it with food. The wine paired very well the bruschetta we made. Sauteed mushrooms thin slice of tomatoes and three different cheeses. (Havarti, Drunken Goat, & Merlot Bellavitano.) |

Tasted with out food an hour after opening bottle and the wine was very tart and sweet. I could only take a few more sips before I gave up on the wine. My wife however enjoyed it, the whole bottle actually. |

10/23/2009 - Evans Wine Cellar wrote: 82 pointsThis was the second time I have had this wine and I was very disappointed this time around. This is a bottle I should have opened years ago when it was in its "prime". It was very hard to detect anything from the nose except alcohol. The first 20 to 30 minutes the wine really didn't offer anything to want me to keep drinking, but low and behold I continued. After about another hour of opening up it finally started to show me what it had to offer. I would suggest at least an hour of decanting before consumption, but I still see this as nothing more than a pizza wine. |

10/21/2009 - Evans Wine Cellar wrote: 89 pointsThis is a great every day bottle of wine. We let enjoyed the bottle over an hour and half and could notice it to really start to open up in the end. For the next bottle I am going to decant for at least 30 min to an hour before tasting. The nose is heavy with cassis and berries. The first taste is so subtle and soft in your mouth that it takes a little air to bring out the greatness that it is hiding. (Again, we did not decant this bottle.) We enjoyed this with a light balsamic pasta, which actually paired very well. |

10/20/2009 - Evans Wine Cellar wrote: 77 pointsThis is the last of my four bottles from the group and it is not holding up well. I would advise drinking this sooner that later unless you like pouring your wine down the drain. For an everyday wine this is in the average to below average category. High levels of acidity that really overwhelm anything else this wine has to offer. The nose of the wine is very strong with berries and a heavy floral note which at sometimes was very displeasing. I would consider this a pizza wine at best. |
