Originally intended for use as a blending component in our Cabernet Sauvignon, our 2007 Esoterica Cabernet Franc turned out to be so luscious and captivating that we were compelled to heed its absolute insistence that it be bottled separately. We are awfully glad that we were attentive to its undeniable right to be the star of its own show. This Cabernet Franc features the felicitous meeting of the seductive power of 100% Mt. Veeder (Napa County) fruit with fine French oak to produce a provocative and substantial wine of great depth and weight. The wine is a memorable example of how intensely pleasing this variety can be when allowed to stand on its own merits. Dark-fruited aromas and flavors of black plum, black cherry and wild blackberry abound, underlain by a solid core of tannin that ensures its age-worthiness and the promise of considerable reward for the patient wine drinker who can resist its current allure. Try this with your holiday lamb, a grilled porterhouse with blue cheese or mushroom reduction, or a beautiful cheese tray.
