2004 Justin Vineyards & Winery Isosceles

See wine details

15%
Isosceles is Justin’s flagship wine, a left bank style Bordeaux blend, though unusually for a flagship, the profile of Isosceles changes year by year, rather than aiming at a consistent style. The wine is produced from the dry-farmed vineyards planted by Justin Baldwin in 1981. The vines are low yielding, and the wines undergo extended barrel ageing in French oak. They also mature around 6,000 bottles of an Isosceles Reserve. The 2004 is a blend of 79% cabernet sauvignon, 11% cabernet franc, 10% merlot. It is matured for 18 months in French oak, with quarterly racking by gravity before being bottled unfiltered. It remains in bottle for a further year before being released for sale. The 2004 was released in January 2007; it will start drinking in two to three years and will reach its prime in 10 years or so.
