** 2005 Rosenblum Cellars Syrah England Shaw Vineyard**

Vineyard

These beautiful vineyards sit on a hilltop 20 miles east of Napa Valley and are planted to a mystery clone of Syrah. The trellis is a two-wire traditional system with spacing of eight by ten feet. These low yielding vineyards produce approximately one-and-a-half-tons-per acre of intensely flavored fruit.

Cellar Practices and Winemaking

The grapes were hand harvested at a very ripe state and crushed into stainless steel tanks and small open-top fermentors. To add character and nuance, this wine benefited from Rosenblum Cellars’ cutting edge barrel and yeast programs, which include over 55 coopers from around the world and 30 strains of yeast. The wine was aged in
60-gallon French and American oak barrels designed especially for Syrah.

Winemaker Comments

Outrageous best describes this wine that comes across as a hybrid of Australian and French Syrahs. In other words, this wine embodies the best of both worlds. Intense fruit that is wrapped in a satin blanket of lavender, smoked bacon, peppery spice, dark chocolate and roasted herbs. This is what Syrah is about.
Enjoy this enticing wine with baby back ribs, a peppercorn steak or prime rib.
