2006 Foxen Old Vines Chenin Blanc Ernesto Wickenden Vineyard

See wine details

WINEMAKER NOTES:
This is our third vintage of Chenin Blanc from this historic vineyard - marking its 40th birthday. 2006 yields were moderate, and the fruit was clean and perfect. We fermented 70% in stainless steel to preserve the "minerality" and purity of the fruit; while the remaining 30% was barrel fermented, where we stirred the lees regularly that contributed to its texture and richness. The finished wine show chalky, "stony" aromas with intense lemon blossom. In the mouth, the chalky minerals continue, carrying lemon peel, kiwi, and quince - with bright natural acidity. This wine would be a perfect match with oysters on a hlaf shell or fine Japanese cuisine. 750 cases.
