2005 Terralsole Rosso di Montalcino

* Soil composition: mixed marl with excellent drainage
* Average altitude: 250 metres above sea level
* Density of vines per hectare: 5.000
* Growth system: balanced monolateral “cordone”.
* Grape varietal: 100% Sangiovese Grosso, known as Brunello in Montalcino.
* Harvest: Selected grapes are picked by hand and placed in small crates with holes for ventilation. They are unloaded directly into the de-stemmer and fall gently into the vats thanks to the cellar design, exploiting the force of gravity.
* Vinification: Intense extraction in contact with the marcs with frequent pump-overs during the initial fermentation. Great attention is paid to temperature control and the temperature never exceeds 28°C and is allowed to descend gradually before the separation of the wine and the marcs.
* Aging in wood: 8 months in French oak barrels of 2,25 hl.
* Bottle aging: at least 4 months in a special air conditioned area of the cellar
* Organoleptic analysis: Color: intense ruby red, limpid; Bouquet: intense and persistent with pronounced fruity notes, well balanced; Taste: harmonic and structured, wellbalanced with important tannic components.
* Alcohol per volume %: 13,50% vol.
* Total acidity %: 5,70 g/l
* Dry extract %: 28,88 g/l
