August 28, 2022 - Drinking well, decanted 3 hours. Dark fruits in the cherries and plums swim lane, licorice with light vanilla notes mixed in, peppery. Lighter in body than what the opaque garnet suggests, floats easily over the front with stewed dark fruits, pepper, and some blood/iron/meat components. Middle breaks serve with some sharper assertive tannins and acidic notes. Down the stretch, the fruit, tannins and acidity all integrate fairly well for a solid finish. This screams steak wine to me, a good NY strip or Rib Eye, wish I had one now. I had with Chicken Parm, and it worked yet was a bit more over the top. Got legs to run and I have more; thinking a revisit in another 3. That said, someone else questioned how much more this can develop, its a fair question. With a good decant, this may be it. I'll roll the dice for a little more.
