September 7, 2022 - The '16 Brunate is an excellent, classic Barolo. The nose is beautifully perfumed and very true to the Brunate vineyard, leading with licorice, black and dark red cherry fruits, sweet spices and a hint of balsamic, and menthol. On the palate, the wine is also super classic, with a mid-weight density but plenty of intensity with medium to high, gripping tannins and high acidity. I found sweet, balsamic spices, black fruit, and licorice along with a touch of cool-toned, fresh herbs like sage and mint. While it's drinkable if you like young Nebbiolo, and the flavors are quite open, the palate will definitely improve significantly as the tannins integrate.

The '16 Brunate is true to my experience with Oddero's wines - I find them to be very classic, slightly rustic wines - but this is the best wine I've tasted from them so far.
