September 20, 2022 - Another beauty tasted alongside the 3 star lunch at Restaurant Akelare, San Sebastian.
There was some ullage in the bottle but the wine presented itself splendidly: Typical smell of "sweaty saddle" (I said: Sweaty socks") , leather, cold embers; very refined, suave and sexy on the palate and the nose and with a good finish which, at the end, became a tad acidic.

9/28/22, 10:12 AM - Hello Manuel, typically I find sweaty socks in traditional Riojas and- when I lived in Australia - in some Hunter Valley reds.
Maybe an obsession of mine… Who knows the human soul?… -

So Australia, I see but the real question is to know, Melbourne or Sidney? -

9/29/22, 12:17 AM - Dear Manuel, Hunter Valley is located in New South Wales, so driving distance from Sydney. There used to be wonderful, old fashioned wines coming from this area. Maurice McShea was a very prominent winemaker there in the 40ies and 50ties and I got to taste some of those beauties when I lived in Australia. Alas, the winemaking style there has changed as well and those beauties are gone.....
