Community Tasting Note

May 30, 2022 - The nose is herbal and earthy with a touch of caramel. Though still relatively oak-forward at this young age, that roughness is decently balanced by plum, violet, cherry, and juicy red fruit. The acid is glorious and the tannins noticeable but not overwhelming. Of the 3 single vineyards, this one appears that it will provide the most immediate pleasure, and thus should likely be consumed over the next 5 years or so.

4/1/23, 8:35 AM - Thank you for the note. I'm a bit confused as to why you said it'll be over the hill after around 2027 ("should likely be consumed over the next 5 years or so").

Although it's not among the 3 single vineyards, your note on the Castello di Brolio reads very similarly (oak there is "a bit aggressive" vs "relatively forward" here; and it was "drinking pretty darn well" vs "providing the most immediate pleasure among the three single vineyards" here), except that you do not mention tannins on that one but you do here. Yet, you say the Castello di Brolio will evolve nicely over two decades. I would expect the same or longer for the Colledila, not starting to go downhill 4 years from now. Any reason for the difference?
