November 25, 2022 - In short, we were disappointed. Good, but certainly not great or memorable. Many of the tell-tale signs of the vintage (i.e., weak mid-palate) were evident, coupled with no real nose. It did gain weight in the mouth after 4+ hours of air (we decanted), and the finish was probably the highlight, but we suspected it has probably seen better days (at least going by this bottle) (this has also stored in ideal climate conditions since purchase upon release).

With coaxing, the nose eventually yielded subtle notes of lavender, graphite, cassis, and blueberry, but was never expressive. In the mouth, darker flavors of chocolate melded with herbs and Asian spices, leading to a tasty finish. However, compared with /02 Leoville Poyferre and many other '02s, this was underwhelming.
