December 26, 2022 - Mostly Piedirosso (75%) with some Aglianico and Pallagrello Nero from the volcanic soils of Roccamonfina. Biodynamic agriculture, no added yeast, fermentation and aging takes place in cement. No filtration of clarification.

    Medium intensity, ruby color.

Vibrant and fruit-driven nose that shows blackberry, black currant, dark cherry, violets, raw meat, moist soil and some spicy notes. Medium bodied with hardly noticeable tannins and a refreshing sappy acidity. Good intensity to the flavors that shows the same kind of fruit as the nose picked up. Decent length.

An easy-drinking charmer that works terrific with lighter foods. Not as complex and touching as their whites but it is a wine that is easy to like. Probably best to drink young.

I kept half the bottle in the refrigerator over night and finished it the next day. Unfortunately it developed some mousiness at the very end of the bottle. What a shame. Hence the scoring is based on the first nights performance.
