December 1, 2014 - Terroir-istes International - France, Bordeaux, Léoville Barton (Rodwell House): 75 CS; 23 Merlot; 2 CFDeep ruby to crimson in colour, the nose shows blackcurrant, cedar, red and black cherry and black raspberry with some spice in the background.
An intense wine with a lifted entry the palate is plush with a sweet fine powdery texture and warm, juicy fruit. Despite the blackberry and blackcurrant notes complex by chocolate and cocoa powder there is a slight grassy, herbal and dried leaf quality that suggests a more challenging year, perhaps 07 or 08? Full-bodied, the tannins are dense and firm and the acid fresh, cooling the warm fruit on the mid-palate and giving some elegance that made the wine highly enjoyable. Excellent concentration, this is a nicely structured wine with a persistent finish.5 people found this helpful 3,936 views
