January 29, 2023 - Opened this last night. Seemed a little out of joint then, not the wine I remembered. That has been largely remedied with airing out in the cellar overnight. Impressive appearance: Viscous black ruby with a red rim and huge tears on the bowl of the glass. Obviously this is very young, but it is already revealing very plush deep purple fruit aromas, so deep they seem infinite. High tannins, but they cannot hide the copious amount of blackberry fruit, umami and soy sauce at the core of this loaded wine. If you have enough of this you could enjoy this with a long decant and hearty meaty dishes, but it will undoubtedly be fabulous thirty or forty years from now. I lament the fact that at 64 years, I am unlikely to be able to enjoy that experience. Gorgeous wine. 5-14-18-9: 96/100.
