  8/8/23, 9:56 PM - At this price point, what really matters is the wow effect on your palate (and not mine). Personnally, my palate did not have that wow moment, although this was the finest Lambrays I ever tasted.
  So at this price/level, the best advice is to buy one Trapet Chambertin, one Faiveley Beze, one Clair Beze, one Lignier CDR, one Mazoyeres Arnaud Mortet, one Bachelet Charmes, one Arlaud CDR, call your best friends for a big tasting for a special occasion, open and decant all the bottles, and then buy the ones which blew your palate. (and your bank too)

Bachelet Chamres Chambertin is in the running for my wine for the year (2016/2017)... but figured the 2020 warm vintage would do wonders for Lambrays lighter style to make a perfect combo... just haven't tried it.. yet :)

  8/9/23, 8:18 AM - You are right, Lambrays has never been a power house like Clos de Tart, and I agree Lambrays is more 'drinkable' than Clos de Tart in warm years. the winemaker Jacques Devousges (transferred in 2019 from Clos de Tard) increased the quality in the 2020 blend, some of the less promising barrels with juice from down the slope in Meix Rentiers and Upslope north in Bouchots going into the 1er cru rather than the grand cru. Definitely worth trying a bottle, cannot wait to see what you think of it vs Bachelet which I have not tasted recently.
