Community Tasting Note

May 2, 2023 - Nose: Sneakers, rubber, wax, chemicals.

Palate: Soft entry with low acidity initially. The acidity creeps in on the mid-palate along with a bitterness. There is some vanilla and bread i the aftertaste.

As a big fan of sherry I was expecting to find some similar characteristics. There is nothing about this wine that is close to any sherry.

5/3/23, 8:23 AM - This is not a Sherry. Its just a normal still, unfortified wine.

5/3/23, 10:37 AM - Looking through the reviews for the 2009-2014 vintages, the word sherry occurs 30 times. I do not think it entirely unreasonable to maybe think that this wine will have some characteristics that reminds one of sherry?

5/3/23, 4:21 PM - People refer to sherry because this wine is made in an oxidative style, as some sherries are. You didn’t pick up any oxidative notes on this wine?

6/5/23, 4:15 PM - You gave 84 points to a wine you expected to have more oxidative qualities? I can understand you are disappointed but this is by no means a fault, it’s just a personal preference. Score isn’t just.

6/7/23, 7:26 AM - Correct, I did not pick up any oxidative qualities in the wine. I consider the score to be just because for me 85 points in the break point where I would consider buying a wine again. So 84 is just below that meaning that it was not terrible but I have no interest in buying any more bottles.

Sure maybe the score was affected by expectations, but all wine scores and tasting notes are affected by expectation (and mood, setting, company, food etc) to some degree.
