May 22, 2023 - Tasting/drinking time (Library, Kent Street): Ripe blackcurrant, minty herbaceous notes, sweet spice, cedar, touch of alcohol prickle on the nose. Medium plus intensity acidity, splash of ripe black fruit, chewy grape and wood tannins are drying but the fruit persists, quite concentrated. A sharp contrast to the SP68 - clean, well made, perhaps a little dull? but nothing wrong here. I'm guessing about 3 decades under screwcap will lend some complexity if it doesn't dry out.

Their blurb reads well but at £37 I think it is overpriced, and your note, while generally positive, has a stinger in its tail about "decades" to reveal more complexity. Lol.

Lovely to hear from you. Yup, it's a nice wine but, if you want anything other than the primary and secondary characteristics, it's going to take quite a while to get there under screwcap :-D
cheers and stay well,
David
