May 30, 2023 - I had this wine a few weeks ago now. Unfortunately the wine didn't live up to the expectations of the previous one I had with Brad. The French oak was very prominent and never really blew off after 3-4 hours of decant. Hoping the next one is better.

7/6/23, 6:08 PM - Interesting reading this and mjp’s consistent TN from a while back. It calls to mind what a friend, far more of a beer connoisseur than I, once said to me about Guinness: there’s the Guinness you get inside the St. James Gate, the Guinness you get everywhere else in Ireland, and the Guinness you get everywhere else in the world (I’ve not been to Ireland, but as a minimal beer drinker, that Guinness everywhere else has always been more than good enough for me). I’ve had 3 Abreus (I just bought a bottle of this, which is why I saw your TN), all bought in the secondary market, all flawless (I have another 7 awaiting consumption), all of which were bought for about half of what I understand the winery will part with them for. I’m sure sharing a pour with Brad and David, from their amazing estate overlooking the Valley, would be a definitive wine drinking experience, and I’m sure that no one knows how to store and prepare their wines the way they do. Is it worth the tariff? Probably not for me, unless my miss rate in the secondary market rises considerably, where I’ll probably stick with lists where the wines are sold for more, rather than less, in the secondary market than what the winery charges. But I certainly do see the appeal, and whether there was something going on with this particular bottle or not, understand how the overall experience can add to the impression of the bottle. Sorry for the long comment and cheers!

7/6/23, 7:33 PM - I think we just caught a better bottle that day imo. And totally agree with ur comment on secondary pricing.
