June 30, 2023 - Blackish purple with a watery rim. A very tight and shy nose of muted fruit with a hint of forest floor, dried green herbs and cedars oak upon opening but opened every so slightly after an hour of air. The palate is dry, with plenty of verve and intensity despite its lighter frame. This young wine is light to a medium-bodied at best, fairly smooth and pleasant on the palate except for some unresolved textural tannins and alcoholic heat which tends to stick out quite a bit. The flavor component is dominated of light but dry red fruits, wild spices, lots of greenish herbaceous and leafy vegetal characteristics, black tea, earthy loamy minerality and a slight touch of cedar and oak. Overall, this is a simple and somewhat modest especially when it comes to the fruits but nonetheless a very well made young St. Estephe red for this price point. I think this would be best paired with assorted charcuterie, cheeses with fruits rather than on its own. 86 - 88.

It's really good to be back tasting wines and writing CT taste notes again after a 2 month hiatus courtesy of a recent bout with a certain variant of Covid which resulted in the loss of smell and taste.
