  August 5, 2023 - What a stunning bottle of wine, opened at 5pm for dinner drinking. This was drank at about 8 pm and the nose, typical rayas and very open and alluring. This was beautifully integrated on the palate, with fine tannins fully resolved with the strawberry kirsch and spices producing a superb delicate elixir. I haven’t had the 96 rayas reserve but I don’t see how that can be better than this.

  I’m glad this bottle showed well. It’s similar notes to what I had 7-8 years ago. Interestingly, it was a Rayas dinner, and we drank the ‘96 Reserve along with the ‘96 Pignan blind. Both were flawless in my opinion, and we couldn’t tell the difference. Sadly, prices are now out of my range.

  8/5/23, 8:28 PM - Haha thanks for your feedback on the reserve I too doubt it can get any better than the pignan. I tend to be quite strict with my scoring so 94 is a great bottle for me. And yes perhaps I could squeeze in a 95😉 it was that good.
