I agree with much of M&E's previous note, but I will add that the wife detected a hint of bitter chocolate here too. So, unless you are going to hold this for 5+ years, IMO, treat this like a Beaujolais and serve it a bit cool.

10/28/23, 5:07 AM - German Pinots like British Pinots are coming on. The Sharpham 20, 21 are all really drinkable. German Pinots are a step up and in 2019. 20 they produced some of their best wines ever! They are also fairly priced with a lead wine at around 10 Euros, a medium range wine from 17-24 Euros and
a high level wine from 35 to 50 Euros and all impressive! The only issue is highish oak. Prost! -

10/28/23, 9:58 AM - I agree that German Pinots are on the up. And, yes, I read that English ones may be too, but I haven't tried them yet. Their price puts me off. (I appreciate land cost in south England is high but, typically, Brits price most of their goods too far up the curve for profits today instead of capturing market share and customers for tomorrow.)

10/28/23, 10:03 AM - I completely see your point but some producers such as Sharpham in Devon have an entry Pinot at 21 pounds, their normal one is 25 and their extra special is 35 pounds. They are all relatively cheap compared to Burgundy. I will try the extra special one next week and inform you! But they are all worth the relatively expensive price and really quaffable.
