October 23, 2023 - The first vintage of E Guigal wine from this vineyard was in 1978, as the first overgrown and untended La Landonne vineyard plots were purchased and planted in the early 1970's by Etienne and Marcel. This should not be an option in Cellar Tracker, because the wine was not produced before 1978.

11/24/23, 11:12 AM - If you have a bottle of 1970 La Landonne by E Guigal it it likely to be a fake.

You could always check with Marcel or Philippe Guigal to confirm, but they owned few if any vineyards before they purchased the 0.9 Ha La Mouline in the middle 1960's and released their first bottle of that in 1966. They started to assemble the vineyard site for La Landonne after that, but I do not believe that they made a separate wine from those parcels, before they replanted them in the early 1970s.

11/24/23, 11:59 AM - You are correct. I just checked my cellar and they are 1970 La Mouline, not La Landonne. Sorry for the confusion. Cheers

11/24/23, 1:36 PM - I believe that the 1970 (or maybe the 1971) La Mouline was the last vintage that Marcel treated the same way as he did the Brune and Blonde which then as now was made mostly from purchased grapes. After that he started to use 100% new oak. It is instructive to compare the 1969 or the 1970 Brune and Blonde with the La mouline of the same vintages. The quality difference was reflected in the 1977 retail prices: 10.95 for the 1970 La Mouline vs $7.50 for the 1970 Brune and Blonde,
