Community Tasting Note

December 15, 2023 - A youthful wine showing pronounced dark berry fruit with graphite and some burning embers and spice notes in the background. Medium-bodied palate of mostly primary fruit. Still showing some tannic structure on the medium finish. Another few years of cellaring should pay rewards. A few hours of air suggested if drinking now.

Your notes were more comprehensive and brought out more nuances in the wine than mine did. I was into palate fatigue territory by the time we opened this particular bottle last night and it didn't receive the time and proper attention it deserved. Still a strong showing. BTW, Carol's Miso Sea Bass sounds amazing.

Anytime you are down here in South Florida, Carol would be happy to make it for you! Btw, she loves Vancouver, too!

We're only 90 minutes from Whistler if you're into skiing... But you do make a great point about similar palates connecting across vast distances. One of the great joys of wine and life!

12/17/23, 8:15 AM - Very tempting HK.....Whistler is my all time fav ski destination. Two great mountains and the number of great restaurants there beat any other ski resort, anywhere. It's still the only place I've ever been able to cut a steak more than an inch thick, with a fork. Been there so many times with the kids growing up. Alas, Carol just had back surgery this week and I'm facing one before next summer, as well, (we have both led very active lives). Hope to be back travelling/skiing next winter!

My thoughts and prayers to a speedy recovery for Carol's surgery and your impending one. The back is certainly one of the most challenging areas to remediate. Hopefully good wine, food and friends will aid in the recovery process. We stand ready to help you on that journey!

12/17/23, 9:14 AM - Awesome! Thanks for the well wishes....it's looking very good for her right now. Her walking is already vastly improved but her big test will be to see whether or not she can get back to her cycling in a few weeks. She really enjoys that as do I. Food, wine and friends always helps! Cheers, pal!
