December 27, 2023 - More subdused than I was expecting, solid fruit and a decent rhone flavored mid palate (wish it had more black pepper and barnyard) with nicely blended tannins. I believe I might have overpaid though at $32 (warehouse style store) since the comm average is $7 lower.
One small dig here - why exactly is this bottle labelled as "caliifornia." Sounds like there's some Lodi or Central Vallley fruit in this wine. Sorry but between Sonoma and Napa there should be plenty of areas that could be sourced to make this one an 85% designation eligible bottle.1,463 views

12/27/23, 1:26 PM - Thanks for the comment on the wine. It is "California" appellation as it comes from a range of cool climate Syrah sites including Santa Maria and Santa Barbara along with Sonoma and Napa. Cheers!

12/28/23, 5:24 AM - Thanks for the clarification. Do you have any more specifics on the vineyards that were sourced for the blend? I saw on your webpage that some of your SB fruit is pulled from areas close to White Hawk. Cool stuff there!

1/1/24, 8:26 AM - The podcast, as mentioned above, goes into it more deeply but it comes from a number of SB sites including White Hawk, Bien Nacido, Nolan, Kimsey and more along with Weill and Hudson on the North Coast. All sites we typically make vineyard designate/higher end Syrah bottling from- this is a blend of declassified barrels.
