This is no funky Pet-Nat; it's a full-fledged methode Champagnoise Pinot/Chardonnay sparkler. Nice toasty citrus on the nose, along with a sunny California character. In the mouth, some nice autolytic bready notes, as well as baked apple, lemon curd, toasted meringue, held together with a high acidity. This tastes like a nice fleshy style of Champagne to me. The complexity is medium, and while not particularly profound, it's very pleasant and fun to drink. I mean, it's bottled under a crown cap- I wasn't exactly expecting Krug. Well done.
