April 3, 2024 - Tasting Note 11 of #50in2024
No surprises here, this is a Russian River Valley Pinot and is on the bolder, fuller side of pinot noir. Apparently this vineyard is above the fog line and warmer and as a result, the pinot tastes bigger, riper than some others but with the clear aromas and taste of this varietal. Ripe plum, baking spice. Medium acide and a little tannins. A good California style Pinot Noir but it is not delicate...it wants to be front and center.
I gave it an 89 mostly because of price...$75 ish. I think you can get same tasting profile in RRV for less. However, this is a nice wine and 90-91 on taste alone. ** note: I don't often figure price into my tasting notes and ratings but for some reason I did today. Comment on this tasting if you think price (or QPR) should be considered in the rating!
Undeniably a RRV Pinot and enjoyable.107 views
