December 16, 2009 - Nose appears red at first with cherries. Acid quite pronounced with a herbal note, vanilla, cola spices. Later dark roses, mulled red berries, cream chocolate minerality, a touch of sage. Amazing palate, grand cru wave, smooth, but very focused and intense, great clarity, aftertaste goes on and on. 45 min: Sweet green tobacco, the smoky notes start to show too, palate even more dense, getting darker, touch of wild boar,
1 hour: black currant, almond cake, cola spices pronounced, under brush, milk chocolate, blood, raw meat, liquorice.1,5 hours: wet clay, fruit orchard. 2 hours: orange peal, under brush, even seashells and beach, dark tea notes, getting fatter and denser on the palate.
You really feel the Cornas inspiration, but the appearance of the nose is like a great Barolo, constantly in change and on the move. Something new happens every time, you put your nose down the glass. A hedonistic wine, but very complex and with great clarity, yet constantly on the move. Grand vin.6,881 views
