December 20, 2009 - This wine was ooszing with depth and layers that one needed to take micro sips to enjoy this wine. Opened this wine about 90-mins before drinking, not much sediment and brilliant ruby colour with medium intensity. The nose was pronounced with screaming blackcurrant, black cherry, jammy with tones of pepper or spice. Had this wine with a rich 5-cheese baked macoroni and did the wine hold up, it kept evolving in the glass and we were drinking it over 3-hours (micro-sips!!) and enjoyed. On the palate, one will get rich balanced fruit with structure that last 15-secs, it ends with spiced finish like a finish in cinnamon tea - the shiraz in this wine makes itself known on the nose and palate and does not shy from the cab and merlot presence. The layer effect is when the wine hits your tongure, the first is the jammy fruit, then soft silky tannins, the fruit grip on the tongue and the dry spicy finish. Excellent par! Peak of its drinking!
