  February 15, 2010 - Decanted for approx. 6 hours prior to tasting. The color was very dark, almost black. I had tasted this wine on 2 other occasions (1st at the winery with Giovanni Manetti in May, 2009 and again in NYC in October). Each of the previous tastings were superior to this one. I feel the wine is completely closed down right now. Even with the long exposure to air, the wine was not yielding anything on the nose or the palate. A wall of tannins are all you taste currently. The '01 showed many of the same signs at about the same stage of development. I won't be touching these again for at least 8-10 years.
