February 21, 2010 - Dark, though not opaque garnet. This is wine candy. Not in a bad way. Rich and unctuous, silky, voluptuous, though not overpowering. The alcohol must be fairly high, as the legs are high in the glass, but it's hidden well. Dark, complex candied cherry flavors, touches of tar and anise, with some nice acidity that brings just enough tartness through on the finish to keep this in balance. Would go well with a rich beef or lamb stew, or as the finishing bottle for the evening. Personally, I wouldn't hold this for years, I think it's charm will be lost.
