July 26, 2010 - I tend to disagree with the other reviews. Although a smoky element was present on the mid palate, overall the wine was representative of Anderson Valley Pinots. Very light in color, with the trade mark, "Wet Earth" componet, the nose was cherries and strawberries, with rasberry overtones. Smooth and elegent, with fruit on the attach was mouth watering, continuing onto the round expressive mid palate, with a slight burnt vanilla. The finish was medium long with good acidity. I love the wine, if for nothing else, the story of the fires and their effect on the wine. I am a big Pinot fan, and can say that this is not my favorite, but well worth the money. Only 150 cases made, your should put a few bottles in the cellar. I feel the wine will develop in the next 3 to 5 years.
