  August 18, 2010 - Opened on impulse to celebrate the birth yesterday of my first grandchild. Managed to decant for an hour (and it was difficult waiting that long). Immediately got beautiful deep cassis aromas on pouring. Colour did not show that maturity of 25 years - still a wonderfully clear ruby garnet colour. The nose was just sublime - exotic oriental spices intermingled with truffle, smoke cedar herbs and cassis - each sniff gave up something more. Wonderfully balanced on the palate with a hint of menthol carried on the tannins. I guess this might be at peak now, as 85s are so rich and opulent I never felt they were really long keepers, but feel it could plateau for at least another 6 or 8 years?? 95+
