Upon opening, nose immediately shows roasted black fruit, surmaturite, and lots of heat. Sweet black fruit on the palate that doesnt show enough brightness. Really just too ripe. Can't complain too much given the $19 price tag, but this is a producer I tend to enjoy (pinot at least) and I know they make nice wine for $19 (2004 Willamette pinot).
