January 22, 2011 - 4:00 popped and decanted @4:00. Small sample to ensure it's still good. Tastes good already. Nose has floral, licorice, cedar, pencil box, garrigue... a little bit of everything wafting out of the glass right now. Oh please give me the patience to let this wine open up. The aromas already fill the room and the taste already wonderful and while it still isn't open, I can sense this may be surprisingly fruit forward.
Hope to update notes later as it opens up.
Update: This wine continued to open over a 4 hour period. Finally, on the last two glasses, this was marvelous. Fruit had opened up completely and made this a monster wine. Of course at that point I wished I could simply rewind the bottle and start over, but alas.
Recommend a 3+ hour decant at this stage.6,403 views
