November 16, 2010 - There is a decidedly green streak running through the aroma of this wine, with grass and green apples, and nearly a hint of green chilies running through it initially. A spin in the glass opens a more buttery, creamy profile, with mixed spices, vanilla, and a soft yeasty tone. This is a very intriguing nose, and it’s entertainingly complex (I think I may have sat and sniffed for five minutes before I even took a sip.)
The palate has a nice initial entry. It’s subtle and smooth, with a foamy, somewhat frothy mousse. Vanilla cream dolloped on golden and green apples is the initial impression, moving on to a soft yeastiness, edging on bread dough. There is a vanilla quality to this wine that gives it a friendliness, but a clear pumice-like minerality and a lemon pith tone toward the finish keep it serious. There is a good balance between contrasts in this wine, and it has a somewhat reserved, subtle flavor profile that encourages you to keep looking, as hints of a variety of flavors make an appearance throughout the drinking experience.
