August 7, 2006 - Purchased at a restaurant. On the back of the bottle was written "Decanted 2004", so the cork was new and the bottle did not have sediment. The label was clean as well, so I am assuming this was re-bottled then, or was stored in casks then bottled in 2004. I am not familiar with this wine, so maybe some of the Barolo experts can help.
The wine had a orange-brown rim, but otherwise was a gorgeous red. The nose had the Barolo tar, with a hint of floral notes, not really roses but more like violets. It was smooth and velvety in the mouth , with sweet fruit, nice structure, and a long finish. An excellent wine and very food friendly, everything you would expect in a great, old Barolo. The only drawback was the insane winelist price.4,356 views
