March 8, 2011 - Pooped and poured through a filter/pourer. Cork intact. Deep garnet, bricking around edges, pronounced intensity, Nose of deep, ripe black currant, blackberries, figs, chocolate, tobacco and a touch of a medicinal note. Palate: dry, medium plus acidity, softened tannins, same notes on palate as nose. Medium body and alcohol but very full mouth feel. Moderate finish. This needs to be served with food to balance the acidity. Make sure to decant due to large amount of sediment. I believe this is going to fall into the heavy tobacco/ashtray profile as the fruit continues to fade within the next 3 to 5 years. If you are not a fan of this style drink up.
